HELLO FROM TRAIN TAHOE
ABOUT US
Where a passion for fitness and the education of, come together to help people move and feel better.
My name is Kimberly Koschmann and I opened Train Tahoe in September of 2019.
My fitness journey started in 2011 when my ex boyfriend's mom gave us, his family and I, a trip to San Francisco plus, a TRX class at the original TRX studio for Christmas. I attended the class with his family and embarrassingly realized how out of shape I really was. Weighing around 190lbs at 5 feet 8 inches tall, my core was so weak that it made the body weight movements that were so easy for other participants, very difficult for me. In the kindest way, my boyfriend's mother offered to help me train to get stronger, what a gift this was! Shout out to Deb Devine, who I will never be able to thank enough.
She got me running and realizing what core strength actually was. As an active snowboarder, this made all the difference in the world trying to get back up after falling on a powder day. Soon after, I found a bodybuilder.com free program, created by Jamie Eason, that showed you videos of all the exercises and let you track your workouts. I was hooked!
I started to shed weight, build muscle, and increase my confidence. Having fought anxiety and depression my whole life, this confidence brought me to a place of happiness I had never experienced before. The free dopamine that came from a consistent workout routine had worked in my favor. I was much less anxious, less insecure and had worked my way, slowly, down to 136 lbs, now carrying a proud smile with me.
I had been looking for my niche in this world and I realized that in fitness I could create one of those jobs in which they say "find something you are passionate about and you will never work a day in your life." I was certified thru NASM as a CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) in June of 2015 and have continued my education with various certifications, research and client experiences ever since.
The first months were rough, the two trainers I watched train others with envy and admiration left the gym I got a job at. I was left to my own devices. Fresh out of school, I followed NASM's instructions to a tee, always worried I was doing something wrong. This curse turned into a blessing as I studied text books on strength and conditioning and enrolled in all conferences and additional education that I could.
Slowly but surely, the added education and support from a few special people continued to make me more passionate about my trade, and brought me the confidence I needed to build a successful career. The amount of gratitude I have for fitness would be hard to express in its entirety. It changed my life in such a positive way, my new journey in fitness became less about aesthetics, and more about helping myself and others feel better through movement.
My goal through Train Tahoe is to create the best training program on the lake! So many programs have trainers and instructors who lack the proper credentials to safely train people, focusing on profit over passion. At Train Tahoe, our focus is to provide you with the most educated trainers in the field, who truly care about helping others on the journey that changed our lives. We believe in creating stability, mobility, and then strength through functional movements to help return people to proper posture as the forefront of our client goals.

At Train Tahoe we focus on functional movement, check out what the Mayo Clinic has to say about it :
What is functional fitness training?
Functional fitness exercises train your muscles to work together and prepare them for daily tasks by simulating common movements you might do at home, at work or in sports. While using various muscles in the upper and lower body at the same time, functional fitness exercises also emphasize core stability.
For example, a squat is a functional exercise because it trains the muscles used when you rise up and down from a chair or pick up low objects. By training your muscles to work the way they do in everyday tasks, you prepare your body to perform well in a variety of common situations.
Functional fitness exercises can be done at home or at the gym. For example, you can use resistance bands or dumbbells at home, or do body weight movements such as pushups, situps, planks and squats.
Gyms may offer functional fitness classes. Or they may incorporate functional fitness into boot camps or other class types. They may include high-intensity functional training, in which you do a variety of functional movements at a high intensity. Exercises may include aerobic exercises, body weight movements and weightlifting. Exercise tools, such as fitness balls, kettlebells and weights, are often used in functional fitness workouts.
What are the benefits of functional fitness training?
Functional exercises tend to use multiple joints and numerous muscles. Instead of only moving the elbows, for example, a functional exercise might involve the elbows, shoulders, spine, hips, knees and ankles. This type of training, properly applied, can make everyday activities easier, help reduce your risk of injury and improve your quality of life.
Functional exercise training may be especially beneficial as part of a comprehensive program for older adults to improve balance, agility and muscle strength, and reduce the risk of falls.

WE DO NOT OFFER LARGE GROUP FITNESS CLASSES. WHAT WE DO OFFER ARE PROGRAMS TO LEARN INDIVIDUALIZED FORM CORRECTIONS PRIOR TO TAKING A BIG CLASS, IN HOPES OF LESSENING THE INJURY RATE OF REPEATING IMPROPER MOVEMENT.
